Zinedine Zidane Will Not Rush Gareth Bale from Injury
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that he will not rush Gareth Bale back from the long term injury.
It has been a disappointing season for the Welshman so far, as he has been out of action since November. His last appearance for Madrid was in the Champions League against Sporting CP. He has recently started training with his teammates and it has sparked suggestions of a quick comeback for the 27-year-old. His presence is certainly required considering that Madrid are going through an injury crisis. Zidane has to deal with the absence of many players at this moment.
The absence of players like James Rodriguez and Luka Modric only adds to the crisis since these are names who could potentially replace Bale for the time being. However, Zidane has now given an injury update which will be a major relief. Modric and Rodriguez are making substantial progress and could feature in the first team as early as this weekend, according to the French manager.
Zidane is going to his toughest spell as the Real Madrid manager. Since taking over from Rafa Benitez just over a year ago, it has been plain sailing for the former midfield superstar. Now, though, defeats against Celta de Vigo and Sevilla have placed a lot of emphasis on Zidane to rescue the club from a poor situation.
"Our idea is to have Luka back next week. We will see (how he is) on Tuesday and the same goes for James. Gareth will take a while longer. He is now on the training pitch in boots which is a good sign, but we have to take it slowly. It is what it is. We can't think about the Cup anymore because we are out.We would have preferred to still be in it, but we have to think positively and we are going to have a full week to prepare first for La Liga and then the Champions League," said Zidane.
