Paul Scholes reckons that Gareth Bale is the perfect player
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes reckons that Gareth Bale is the perfect player to bring the Premier league title back to Old Trafford.
United are set to finish a second consecutive season without a major trophy. This is despite the club spending more than £ 150 million on new players including Angel di Maria from Madrid. However, there has been intense speculation that Bale would be on the wish list of United going into the summer. This would help the club realise their original dream of signing Bale before Madrid did in 2013.
The Welshman has encountered a terrible 2015 at Madrid, as he has found himself being the victim of the club’s poor form. After the recent loss to Barcelona, Bale’s car was vandalised by a small group of Real Madrid supporters and there are heavy hints that the 25-year-old could return to the Premier league. It would cost a vast sum of money, as Madrid lavished £ 85 million on the player just 18 months ago. He has not been a huge commercial success, but Bale has already contributed the Champions League and the Copa del Rey title to the club. Scholes reckons that Bale will be a great play for United and has urged his former club to sign the Welshman.
"Of course, as a fan of my former club I would like to see him there but, looking at it objectively, I always felt that Bale was a natural fit for United as he developed at Tottenham from a left-back into one of the best attacking footballers in the country. He would be loved at Old Trafford. In return I believe he could turn Louis van Gaal’s team into serious title contenders next season. All good players need to be appreciated. Bale would be coming to United in a time of change when the team is looking for leaders," said Scholes.
