REAL UNSURE ON BALE

Real Madrid are in danger of failing to get Wales international Gareth Bale from Tottenham this summer. This is after the Spanish club's president Florentino Perez has stated that the € 100 million price tag for the player is too much to ask.

It has been reported on several papers that Real Madrid have made an official offer of £ 85 million. This would break the current world record, which is also held by Real Madrid for the transfer of star Cristiano Ronaldo. Bale has had one season at Tottenham in which he has been outstanding.

In all other seasons, he has been very promising indeed. Cristiano Ronaldo was already a superstar when he moved to Real Madrid. Despite several reports suggesting that Real Madrid were willing to pay whatever it demanded in order to get Bale, the latest comments from Perez suggests otherwise. It casts a serious doubt on the transfer going ahead. Bale has been extremely keen on moving to the Spanish capital after reportedly telling his manager Andre Villas-Boas about the same. He scored 24 goals for Tottenham last season, as they finished in fifth position.

He has not won any major trophies till date, while his experience in the Champions league is also very limited.
"If I don't speak about names, I don't speak about money. [But] if you say €100m, I would say that seems a lot ... for anything. I'm not going to speak about it because I shouldn't and I can't. I refer to this player [Bale] and others. We don't speak about other players out of respect for the player, their club and their president [Levy], who is a friend of mine. We struck up a good friendship last year during the signing of Modric," said Perez.
Tottenham signed Modric for £ 35 million last summer.
